Ulli Potofski passes away at 73

The German sports world mourns today. Popular sports commentator Ulli Potofski has passed away at the age of 73. He fought a long illness.

He began his career in the 1970s with WDR. In 1984, he joined RTL, and by the 1988/89 season, he revolutionized Bundesliga coverage through the show “Anpfiff.” He continued to entertain sports fans for many more years on channels like DSF and Sky.

He covered major events like Wimbledon and the Bundesliga. He also won fans through programs like “Domino Day.” He wrote several children’s books under the title “Locke,” which captured young readers’ attention. In 2016, he shined in another way on the show “Let’s Dance.”

On July 31st, he spoke from hospital on his podcast. On July 6th, he made his final appearance on Instagram, where he thanked and expressed love for his long-time partner.

Though his breath has stopped, his voice will live on forever in the world of sports.
