Genesis: A Musical Revolution That Has Lasted for Decades

Genesis is a band formed in 1967 by students at Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey, England. The original members were Tony Banks (keyboards), Mike Rutherford (bass/guitar), and Phil Collins (drums/vocals). The band became famous for their progressive rock sound when Peter Gabriel joined as the lead vocalist and Steve Hackett joined as the guitarist.

In the 1970s, under Gabriel’s leadership, they released concept albums like The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, which took their music to a whole new level. Gabriel left in 1975, and Phil Collins became the lead vocalist, leading to successful albums like Duke and Invisible Touch.

After Collins left in 1996, Ray Wilson became the lead singer, and they released Calling All Stations in 1997. Genesis reunited in 2007 for the Turn It On Again tour and again in 2021-2022 for The Last Domino? tour, delighting their fans.

Genesis’s music spans many styles, from progressive rock to pop rock. Their complex albums and pop tours have made them one of the most influential bands in modern music history.
