Eurotunnel: The Longest Undersea Route

The Channel Tunnel, also known as the Eurotunnel, is a major transport link between the United Kingdom and France, notably passing under the Dover Strait. It is 50.45 km (31.35 mi) long, with a 37.9 km (23.5 mi) section passing under the sea. Therefore, it is considered the longest undersea passage in the world.

The line was opened on 6 May 1994, with the aim of improving transport links between continental Europe and the British Isles. It provides a variety of services, including Eurostar passenger trains, Eurotunnel Freight for heavy vehicle transport, and Eurotunnel Le Shuttle services for cars and buses.
