Cucumbers grown by Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales have been recalled. The reason is an ongoing Salmonella outbreak. Around 26 people in about 15 states have fallen ill in connection with this. According to the FDA, the cucumbers were distributed to the market starting April 29.
The CDC in the U.S. states that Salmonella bacteria pose a high risk of spreading through food. Now, restaurants, retailers, and consumers are advised to discard any possibly contaminated cucumbers. The company has also taken steps to protect consumer safety.
