Neo-Nazis and Counter-Protesters Clash in Melbourne CBD

Melbourne’s central business district erupted today. The “March for Australia” protest started in front of Flinders Street Station. Around 6,000 people, including Neo-Nazis, anti-immigration supporters, and right-wing groups, joined the march. About 3,000 counter-protesters moved along Swanston Street. Police, mounted units, and public order teams ran across the city to control the crowds.

The clashes intensified. Protesters threw bottles at officers. Police used capsicum spray and bean bag guns. People ran through the streets, sparking further conflicts. Indigenous activists at Camp Sovereignty faced a storming by Neo-Nazi protesters. The attackers chanted, “Aussie Aussie oi oi.”

In Sydney, a crowd of about 15,000 chanted “Send them back.” In Brisbane, pro-Palestinian and pro-transgender groups joined the protests, adding to the tension. In Adelaide, protesters displayed a banner related to Dezi Freeman.

Victoria Police Minister Anthony Carbines criticized the protestors, calling them “unhinged grubs.” NSN leader Tom Sewell encouraged people to unite against immigration, and the crowd cheered him.

Melbourne CBD filled with noise, clashes, tear gas, pushes, and injuries. Protesters plan to organize larger rallies in the future.
