German Football World Cup Champion Frank Mill Passes Away

The German football world is mourning the loss of one of its iconic strikers. Frank Mill, a member of Germany’s 1990 World Cup-winning national team, has passed away at the age of 67. He suffered a severe heart attack in late May and received treatment at the University Hospital in Essen. Despite several days of fighting, he sadly passed away.

Both Fortuna Düsseldorf and Rot-Weiss Essen officially confirmed his death. Borussia Dortmund’s Hans-Joachim Watzke said, “Frank was a smart player on the field and a warm-hearted friend off the pitch.”

Mill played 386 Bundesliga matches and scored 123 goals during his career. He represented Rot-Weiss Essen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund, and Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The German Football Association (DFB) paid tribute to him with the words, “Ruhe in Frieden, Frank” (“Rest in peace, Frank”). He leaves behind three children.

Though he is gone, his name will shine forever in the history of German football.
