The 14th edition of the Soccer Aid charity match was held in a festive atmosphere at Old Trafford. The World XI team claimed a 5-4 victory, raising £15 million for Unicef’s children’s charity efforts.
Though England led 3-0 in the first half, the World XI turned the game around in the second half, thanks to four goals scored by Carlos Tevez.
The winning goal was scored by rapper Big Zuu, who had served as a pundit during the first half. He celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘siuuu’ move after scoring past Paddy McGuinness.
For England, Wayne Rooney, Toni Duggan, and Jermain Defoe scored four goals in total. Rooney’s goal in the fourth minute became the fastest goal in Soccer Aid history.
The match also featured popular personalities like One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson, Gladiators star Diamond, YouTuber Angry Ginge, Bella Ramsey, Sir Mo Farah, and comedian Richard Gadd.
Angry Ginge earned the Player of the Match title for his strong defensive display, including a goal-saving clearance against Brazil legend Rivaldo — which went viral on social media.
Tevez scored his first two goals just 97 seconds apart, then netted a free-kick for a hat-trick, and equalized with a fourth goal, helping his team bounce back from behind.
